Thanksgiving Fun

Thanksgiving weekend was a lot of fun for me.

I got a lot of catching up with the family.

Happy Mom, Little Guy, and Big Poppy visited and we had a good time.

The fun started Thursday Morning when they arrived. Then came Grandpa and Uncle Doug for dinner.
We had turkey, stuffing (yay happy mom!), chocolate cake, dinner rolls, and appetizers.
(The appetizers and dessert was last minute because [congrats!] Cousin Channy had her baby boy!!)

One plus side, nobody was sick this weekend (from the food that is--head colds are a different story, and they have been going around our household too).

We went to Grandpa's on Friday, and spent the weekend there.

We went out hunting a bit but not much was seen.

Well okay, we saw a few things.

We came home Saturday night, and Happy Mom and the family left Sunday Morning.

We'll be excited to see them again at Christmas!! And all in all it was a great weekend. :)

It's Coming

It's coming, whether we're ready for it or not.

I can hear it in my room. I can feel it under my coat.

I don't mind the snow personally, but when it was 60 degrees a few days ago..it's kind of a quick change.

Guess we'll start preparing for winter. :)

Deer Hunting? or Bambi Hunting?

This weekend was spent out at Grandpa's.

It was rather enjoyable, seeing the family and all. And of course the best part of this being: it was opening deer season weekend. :)

(I find this party PARTICULARLY UNFAIR!)
Dad decides that Brother get's the first deer. I don't know how they could have come to this conclusion without me.

The first morning was spent out on some land that we usually start the weekend off on. We saw a pretty big buck, but it was a little dark yet and Brother could not quite get him sighted in. Plus he claims 'i don't do well under pressure and it's kind of hard when there's someone yelling SHOOT SHOOT in your ear'.
(I myself don't see how this is possible considering if i would have been yelling it would have definitely scared the buck off.) In case you didn't understand, this one got away, but less than 15 minutes later we saw 3 beautiful does a little ways out. Brother takes the shot, and one is wounded. The silly deer stay put, so I get the shot. Another wounded.

I suppose this is why Hunting was given it's name.

We spent the rest of the morning (mind you, from 7 am til 10:45 am) chasing the deer around the county i believe! But we finally came away with the one Brother wounded. We never did find my poor lady.

We saw a few that night but...yes, i'll admit it....i missed. It was too dark too see so I couldn't get a shot ;).

But the next morning we went out....and I got one. :)

Some call it Bambi, but I tell them I'm just holding out for the big 10x10 Thanksgiving Weekend.

:)

(P.S. I'm super excited to see the family Wednesday!!!)

Great Season

The other night was a sad affair. Volleyball season ended.

To say the least, we weren't upset much, except for the fact it ended a game too soon.

We had a great season:

We exceeded a lot of expectation. We weren't expected to do much this year, considering our record for the past two years held less than 10 wins. We came to beat some pretty good teams, and played really well against other great teams.

We also won our district in volleyball, which hasn't been done in something around 5 years.

We ran into a tough team for regions, and I personally won't  be surprised when they win the state tournement.

This was definitely a year to remember.

The Art of Racing in the Rain

This by far has been one of the best books I've ever read.
(Besides The Host by Stephenie Meyer, it is probably my favorite.)

To give you a brief synopsis, but not ruin the book, a dog is telling it.
Some have compared this to Marley and Me, but I will tell you that it is not. The puppy, Enzo, is purchased by his owner Denny. They don't have the easiest life ever. The perspective of the dog makes the story quite interesting. It is a tearjerker at the end, but whether they were tears of joy or sadness you will have to read to find out for yourselves. This book may even have inspired me to want a dog, once I'm older and can afford it of course. :) It definitely made me think differently of animals, in a way i think is pretty cool.

Thanks Happy Mom for the book advice.

Jack-O-Lanterns

This weekend some time was set aside for some brother-sister bonding time.

Brother chose to carve Jack-O-Lanterns.

He spent his time picking out the perfect pumpkins that would become perfect Jack-O-Lanterns.

Planning the elaborate designs.
Getting the insides out.
(Might I add..this was the most disgusting part)

Some help from an 'expert'.
Finishing up.
Finished products. :)

Two Words.

I have only two words that are important in this post.

RANDY MOSS

In case you haven't heard, the Vikings traded for him.

They didn't give much up, and no offense, but Brett Favre didn't have much to work with until now.

He may not be the nicest guy that has ever lived, and maybe a bit arrogant.

Let's just say that i was a bit disappointed in the performance Monday Night.

I'm not blaming Randy Moss, because it was not his fault. But how can someone throw 501 career touchdown passes and a game-losing interception in the same game?

Percy Harvin even played GOOD.

But we're gonna let it go, it's a new week. Hopefully the Vikings can finally get something done!

Go Vikes!!!

Don't Want it to End

I don't want this to end.

I really don't want this to end.

And I especially don't want THIS to end. :(

Let's GO Twins!!!!!! Please beat those Yankees!

OH, the Choices.

So far, my Junior Year in many ways has not been what I expected.

What I am getting at is, not only is the school work harder, but there is a lot to do in very little time.

PSAT exam. check.
ACT. check.
ASVAB test. check
Careerdays. check.
*And don't forget!
17 college letters a week. check.

Who knew what all was coming?

Today our class attended the Career Days in Mitchell, SD.

I got enough of an earful from plenty of colleges, and it helped may have helped narrow down my choices.

As of now, I am narrowing down my choice of schools, and working on what exactly I want to do with my life.

Oh the choices:
SDSU? USD? UofM? BHSU? NSU? The Mount?(too close to home, but I'm making a point here)

Must I go on? (okay those above might not be quite so realistic, but you are getting the idea now.)

But wait! There's more:
Medicine? Law? Spanish?(I will say no matter what I do it will most likely be backed by Spanish) Biology? Chemistry?

The choices are endless!

I know I have time, but you know how it goes. You sort of want an idea when your enrolling in your classes for next year. You sort of want an idea when you are looking at what colleges you want to visit. You sort of want an idea when you look at how you score in certain areas on the exams I named above (and there is more, yes indeed). You sort of want an idea before your a senior, and it becomes for real that you have one year.

I am not saying plans won't change, because more than likely they will. And I may be jumping the gun a tad bit, but today just made me start thinking a little harder, and like I said, You sorta want an idea before you graduate.

Oh, the choices.

Follow-Up...I Spoke Too Soon

I apologize, on my last blog I spoke too soon.

Yes, the Twins won that game, but the following night was another heartbreaking loss.

We received good news that day though.

These lovely men, along with Rauch, Kubel, and anybody else that may have been hurt, are feeling better. A lot better. They finally managed to end the Toronto series with a win. And better yet...

This man felt great after warming up with the Twins. He hit 5 HRs in BP. Sounds great to me.
(We later find out first round playoffs are out, but this is still looking good.)
This will be much needed when it comes to post season, and (hopefully) on to the world series!

Twins Baseball

As I sit here, I am watching the Twins WIN.

In case you haven't heard, Twins Baseball has been struggling for a bit.
(A long bit)

They have lost 5 games in a row since clinching the ALC. And were on their way to losing a sixth tonight.

But hopefully they are turning it around.

What's to blame for the sudden loss of the Twin's success?

Well if you ask some...

They may blame it on the pitching.

If you ask others..

They may blame all the injuries.
(I.E. JJ Hardy's swollen knee, Joe Mauer's jammed knee, Denard Span's foul-ball foot, Jason Kubel's wrist..must i go on??)

Or if you ask me...

It's because my poor guys (and as if I even need to add..(keyword here) MY CUTE guys) have been too busy hurting themselves or dodging broken bats that they can't focus on the games.
(I also must add, Joe has to sit out..he needs his knee ;) and Danny, well, he's not going to quit once he finally got where he wanted to be!)

Another reason I felt the need to blog about this...

See that kid on the left? Yeah, that's my brother. See what he's wearing? Yeah, that's Royals stuff.
The Royals happen to be contributing to the Twins' losses.
Which means brother gets the bragging rights.
That can't happen.

So I have two words..GO TWINS!

Homecoming Week

There were BIG things going on in Scotland this week.
I mean many big things.

First of all, it was Homecoming Week.

We celebrated Monday with Pajama Day.

Tuesday was Hillbilly Day.

Wednesday was Camo Day (or in the poor Freshman cases- Work Day)

Thursday was Highlighter Day!

But Thursday, some other activities went on as well. It was coronation.

And following that, some more (and I will add-yes it was legal) excitement.

Then Friday was Orange and Black Day, and also the big football game.

But as I mentioned before, there were big things going on.

The day was drama filled to see who could participate in their football games for the night.

In the end, they all got to, and we came away with a win!

But that was about enough excitement for one week.

Why am I doing this?

To tell you all the truth, I can't get enough of Happy Mom's blog-http://nothinglessthanamiracle.blogspot.com/. I think it's so much fun to keep up with. I thought I'd try my own out. We'll see how it goes. I may not get to keep as up to date with this as some may wish, and for that I apologize!

I will start off my blogging by telling you a little about myself.

Believe it or not-- I love my family.

My brother and I have started getting along a lot better over the years, even though we still have the occasional fight, (contrary to what our parents may say) we have matured.

I also have some amazing friends. They are the best anyone could ask for. I'm good at making them laugh and God knows they are good at making me laugh.

Which brings me to my greatest love, God. What else is there to say about that?

I also have a love for the Minnesota Twins!!

And my heart is stolen by more than one thing.

Joe Mauer
& Godson. :)

But of course, I love them all.

Of course I could go on forever, but I've gotta run. Hopefully you enjoy the blog. It may take some time for me to catch on!
